Sports 'n' Smile

Annual Sports of the Association was held with much colour and gdeaaiety at St. Aloysius School ground, Cox town on 20th January, 2008 (Sunday). For the first time groups of children from 2 NGO's – 'St. Rocks Convent's' & 'SoCare Ind' as invited, participated along with the children of our Members befitting the theme 'Sports 'n' Smile, suggested by our President. They were provided free lunch, besides the Association arranged fruits, tea, snacks for one & all.

Sri. Rupak Dutta, IPS, Addl. DGP (attending the event along with his wife) was the Chief Guest. The ceremony began at 9.30 a.m. after the Prayer, followed by opening speech delivered by the President Sri A L Roy and hoisting of the Association Flag by Sri Subrata Haldar, The Chairman of the Board of Trustee of the Association and the 'March Past'.

It started with a cricket match between President XI and the General Secretary XI , while the President's XI team won by 31 runs. This was followed by other events – totally 19 nos. participated with great enthusiasm by our Members, their family members, particularly children, grouped in several categories.

After all the events stood concluded, prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest
Sri. Rupak Dutta & Smt. Dutta to all the winners. Special Mementos were given to all the children from the two NGO's.

At the end, Vote of Thanks was proposed by the General Secretary Sri. Swapan K Chakrabarti.

A Special mention must made about Sri. Abhijit Mallick, the Chairperson of Sports & Gen-Next Committee, and Smt. Samita Mallick E.C. Member, and also Youngsters of our Association for their untiring efforts to successfully organize the event with co-operation from all quarters.

Given the spirit & effort, we firmly hope to hold our "2009 Sports Meet" at a greater scale & grandeur.
