Durga Puja 2007
The Bengalee Association was founded and registered under Societies Act on 16th September 1959.

Initially it came into existence in the form of a public Library named Bharati Pathagar in 1950. Subsequently it was transformed into cultural platform while performing Tagore's birth anniversary. Ultimately the constitution was formulated and registered in 1959.

The present building of the Association near Ulsoor Lake was built in 1980 and expanded twice, once during 1995-96 and again in the year 2000. At present it consists of an auditorium in the ground floor, Library and Office in the first floor and Guest Rooms in the second floor, a Community Hall is also constructed adjacent to the main auditorium.

 
 
Social functions and gathering of the fellow members are organized at a bare minimum cost.



 
 
 
 
Indigent patients who hail from unprivileged sector of the society gets a helping hand to ease their woes.




 
 
 
 
To highlight the problems and submit to the right Authority is one of our prime objectives e.g., implementation of Direct Train between Kolkata & Bangalore was initiated by the Association and became operative after the persuasion and prolonged meeting with the then Railway Minister Ms.Mamata Banerjee and Member-Railway Board Sri Madhukar Reddy by the General Secretary of the Association
Sri A.L.Roy.

 
 
 
 
Whenever situation demands matter of concerned is taken up by the Association with either judiciary or police or bureaucracy for the social cause e.g, Sri Kumud Kanto hailed from a village of Hoogly could not receive his dues of compensation against fatal accident of his son while working as a Mason in Bangalore. This was possible while Association interfered and our senior members Smt.Puja Haldar & Smt.Runu Maitra represented on behalf of the victim in the tribunal at Karnataka Karmikara Bhavan.
 
 
 
 
Taking a brake from the busy schedule of daily life, meeting the people from all walks of life for a lighter moment over a lunch or a dinner and stage is open to all.

 
 
 
 
Our Library boasts of a rich collection of all-time classics in Bengali literature.The total number of books
exceed 4500. Library is opened on the evenings of all the week days and on Sunday mornings.

Enrich our Library through your contribution & participation.
We invite suggestions to procure new books to expandour existing collection.
Our Library is open from 6 p.m to 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Members are welcome browse and borrow books.

Artisans from Kolkata stay for three months from August to October every year to make idols for various Poojas like Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswathi Puja, etc..
